Mostly Classical Performing Arts is proud to present soprano Amy Shoremount-Obra, an artist whose voice has graced the stage of the Metropolitan Opera and concert halls across the world.
She made her much-anticipated Met debut in October 2014 as First Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, singing all nine performances, three of which were broadcast on Sirius XM, and she has since performed that role at the Met sixteen times.
She returned for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, and at the Met she has also covered Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Anna in Nabucco, Clotilde in Norma, Aksinya in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, and the Queen of the Night.
She can be heard as First Lady on the Metropolitan Opera's 2017 recording of The Magic Flute, and her connection to the house began early, as a 2004 New York Regional Winner and National Semi-Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
Critics have praised her Donna Anna as "a really outstanding Anna, accurate and with exciting thrust" (Opera News), while the Huffington Post described a voice of "sensitivity yet full-throated power."
She is the Top Prize Winner of the 2018 Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition Wagner Division, and her recent operatic work includes the title roles of Turandot and Salome, and Leonore in Fidelio with the LA Philharmonic.
Her concert career includes a 2005 Carnegie Hall debut as soprano soloist in Brahms' Requiem with The Juilliard Orchestra, and a 2016 debut at David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center in Verdi's Requiem. She has appeared as a soloist at Carnegie Hall five times and in recital throughout the US, the UK and Sweden. She also co-founded the Hawaii International Music Festival.
A native of New Jersey, she holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School, and since 2017 she has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Voice at the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College.
